For 2015 we have decided to rename our two teams playing in the Three Shires League to celebrate the town's connection with the hat making industry. "Luton Plaiters" and "Luton Boaters" will play home matches on Thursday evenings. The club also has a team in another local league, the Pennant Midweek League.
Commenting on the change of name, club Chair, Sherrin Everitt said "petanque is a competitive game, but also one of its great attractions is the friendly and informal atmosphere at matches and competitions. We feel that changing the teams names from Luton A and Luton B to the Plaiters and the Boaters will do away with any sense of hierarchy between the teams, and also help remind us of our connection to this area."
As well as regular league matches during the summer, the club has informal practice and social sessions at its venue adjacent to Stopsley High School. Anyone is welcome to come along on Sundays at 11.30 am, and Tuesdays at 1.00 pm.
